Volvo 440 will not run

my friends volvo 440 will not run.

1/4of a tank the filled up to 1/2 a tank, 1/4 mile and the car stopped.
the say fuel is getting pumpped to the pipe that feeds the carbs but it will not run. pour some fuel into the carbs and it will start then stop when that fuel has run out. b4 they start looking for more carbs could the be another problem?

any help would be great.

Maybe it's the fuel pump that's lost its efficiency?

Since the car only travelled 1/4 mile after adding fuel, I would check what went into the tank first then check the pump followed by the carb jets etc.

Agreed.
Make sure he/she didnt put diesel in it
