not unless the boiler AND flue liner were removed no. the bbu should really be removed and its not that much hassle. chimney breast shouldnt need touching either.
The cheapest solution is to replace the BBU with a simple heat only boiler like the Worcester 15Ri for example. About £1500-£1700 or less.
A bit more to replace the cylinder and add TRVs.
Of course its more to convert to a combi system!
The old boiler should be drained and isolated from gas and electricity and then it can be left in situ for a byilder or DIYer to remove at any time in the future.
I doubt most would know how to strip this boiler down , These are around 1968 ,have not seen one in at least 20 years.
