My 1 year old has a cot bed.

Its boring.

I searched the web for various beds and liked the look of the VW camper beds so printed a few off for inspiration.

So I am building him a VW camper bed... Or at least trying too...

I am no carpenter but I do have space and a few tools.

How hard can it be right?

Anyway started Saturday afternoon with 2 sheets 18mm MDF delivered from local wood shop.

I measured out his cot mattress

Clamped them together the MDF and started cutting.

Taking my time and just by eye I started marking out the windows.

My pictures of inspiration

Done a few cuts and starting to take shape..

Mocked up sitting on the deck! This is how it will be sitting..

I hope to grab an hour or so a night through the week so will update shortly.

1 question I have is how best to seal the MDF before painting?
I have read so many old posts dating back up to 10 years but I wonder what is the best method today?

Awww, who's a nice daddy.... ;)

Nice bed, I am sure baby will love it when old enough to understand it.

Looking good...slightly watered down PVA glue should do the trick i think. or paint straight onto the mdf and seal with clear hard varnish?

What I heard was to use special (read expensive) MDF primer.
