Wall chased pipes

Looking to start my bathroom renovation in a few weeks and looking for some advise.

I am going to be chasing the hot and cold water pipes into the wall for our new shower unit, but rather than tiling/having a bare wall we are going to be using large panel tongue and groove cladding.

I was wondering if there would be any issues with leaving the chase open rather than plastering over the hole/piping and just placing the board over the top once the pipe work has been clipped in? Would this contravene any building regs or cause any long term problems?
