Good evening. I am currently building a single storey extension to my bungalow and am almost up to the roof plate.

I am going for a warm roof with 75 X 225 joists and can't seem to find a detail of how they will join to the existing hip roof. I assume they sit on the wall plate of the inner skin? How are they fixed to this?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Assuming they sit along side the existing rafters/joists - spike into the side of the existing and then either skew nail into to the existing plate or use a Simson angle fastener/bracket.

Thanks noseall. Would you recommend a plate on the new wall too? I've seen that you can strap down to the inner leaf using twisted straps?

Also do the joists on the side wall sit on the outside leaf?

Not essential no, as you can secure (as said) using twisted HD straps onto individual joists.

Not sure I follow. Here is onw we did earlier....

One more question. Do you put a wall plate on the existing bungalow wall? Which would be the outside skin of my house now.
