Or was he just delusional? No doubt his 'sayings' and 'achievements' have been greatly exaggerated in the retelling over two thousand years, but he must have had something about him to be so influential.
Given his gruesome end I go with delusional, if he'd have been simply a conman he'd have squirmed out of that one somehow.

I don't remember anyone addressing this question on here, in all of the rambling threads we've had on the subject. which is odd because it's an obvious question to ask if you don't believe in 'god'.
If you are an athiest then obviously christ was a liar or a madman, why don't people talk about it?

If you are saying that you do not believe in God, or that Christ was his son, why then do you believe everything written about him by people who do believe? You can only assert that he was a liar or a madman if you had evidence either way. He could have been a latter day human rights activist who got a bad press. Or not.

As I said most of the tales regarding him will have been "exaggerated no doubt.
But the christian religion started somewhere, I was always led to believe it was this guy claiming to be the son of god that kicked all the later ballyhoo off to begin with.

It's virtually impossible to recreate the circumstance in which something became "publicly noteworthy", let alone of the scale to mean an individual becomes imortalised in history. Have a look on YouTube at the oddities available today though... most of us are extremely boring. Surely you only need to have the most vibrant individual do something in a particular town that hosted the most important scribe, linked to the most important holy man, with the abilty to "spread the word"... and you have religion.... a bit like a Wayne Rooney goal in the world cup finals !

Yawn.

I don't understand how religion can be such a popular discussion subject, when nobody has anything new to say.

Oh, inb4 20 page thread.

Religion, politics, immigration, Religion, politics, immigration, Religion, politics, immigration, Religion, politics, immigration, Religion, politics, immigration, Religion, politics, immigration,

Blah blah blah.

G.D. is totally bereft of imagination. Same old dull people same old dull subjects.

Yet here you still are. Moaning about it rather than using your own imagination to contribute different subjects or fook off and do summat else.

Sooey, I met the son of god once (or so he said). He walked into the pub.
True story.
He looked just like you'd imagine. Long hair, long beard, the typical picture from the neck up.

The problem was... He was completely naked other than a pair of brown pants, one shiny black shoe on his left foot and a white trainer on the other.

I never prayed again.

One had been a house painter the other, a carpenter
