Hi - Mr thicky here. Having a problem with water not draining away from washing machine when rinsing / spinning. The water leaves the machine via a flexible plastic / rubber pipe which is inserted into a plastic drain pipe (down pipe) about 12" of the flexible pipe is inside the down pipe. [I have tried adjusting the mength of this insertion without effect] This down pipe (about 22" long) ends in a U connection and then runs into the plastic waste pipe and eventually into the drains. It is also connected to the same plastic waste pipe that the kitchen sink uses.
Problem arises when wash machine goes into rinse / spin mode and discharges water at a faster rate than the pipe can cope with and it backs up and spills into the kitchen cupboard which is below the sink etc.
Have tried using proprietary sink clearing chemicals which don't have an effect on this problem. Also the sink water discharge has now come out in sympathy and water is draining very slowly and there's a lot of "Gurgling". Any plumbing wizards are invited to help Mr Thicky with solution. Could it be an air block and if so what's the best way to shift it. Have a great day everyone - Jeff
