Hi. My washing machine is tripping the electric straight off when switched on, and I have found a loose earth wire near the motor and pump. The thing is theres a pin for the spade connector on the case and a second pin on the motor. So I'm not sure which one I should connect the loose earth too.
My thoughts is that the wire should connect to the case, as the other end of it (via the pump) is already connected to the motor... unless it is meant to loop round?
The result would be an earth wire going from the motor to the pump, with another earth coming from the same connector to the case.
I have a Hotpoint WD440 (but i guess this is not really a question that is machine specific), and if anyone could clear this up for me and save me calling out an engineer it'd be much appreciated .
