it would depend on the size (volume) of the tank and the pressure available, and also the main pressure refilling the tank, in theory if the tank fills too slowly it could run out as the machine would draw it out of the tank quicker than a poor main supply would refill it but i have fitted loads in utility rooms etc with a stored cold supply without any prob, on a "traditional system" the hot supply would be storage fed via the cylinder and work perfectly well
Our washing machine used to be fed from the cold mains and gravity hot.
We moved it, and it is now gravity hot and cold feeds. It works just as well both ways.
Most modern machines are designed to use the minimum amount of water, so stored water capacity shouldn't be a problem.
most w/m are cold feed only now...i cant see a problem as they dont use that much water (all at once)....good ones use about 8-10 litres per kg of washing
Does your machine need hot and cold supplies, or just cold? If you are fitting your machine in the kitchen, you will probably find that the cold water to the kitchen sink is fed straight from the mains.
