Hi, Wonder if anyone can help me with a problem.
Over the past 2 years or so the hot water isolation tap on my washing machine has been replaced 3 times. After a while, the tap (elbow type from screwfix) starts to let water out when it's in the closed position. Is it possible that the water pressure is just so high that the tap has a limited life? Could it be a limescale problem? Just about to replace it again but I feel I'm fighting a losing battle.
Many Thanks

It's likely cheap products letting you down, I would expect an isolation valve to deal with 20 bar of pressure and incoming pressure is likely to be nearer 3 bar.
Use a good quality manufacturer.

Pegler used to be very good - even their modern stuff is usually better than that. Without getting exotic that's about all you can choose.

Send it back with a bill for labour to replace it!

when it leaks or lets by, where does the water come out?

I would never remove an appliance hose without capping off the valve.
3/4" brass cap and rubber washer.
