washing machine knob broke

Hi,
I've broken the knob on my washing machine, it's the one for the wash/spin programme. The whole front of the knob broke off as I was trying to lever it off in the process of fixing another problem. It's an AEG OKO Lavamat. I've called AEG and they've quoted almost £18 for a replacement(inc P&P). Is there a cheaper way of fixing it?

in my time i have seen the knob broken , glued back on, never works £18 it is then.

Do remember this, not all knobs are the same they may look it but they are not (never foret this lady 's face when i walked in with a big bag of them and NONE were right)
