Washing Machine Leak

Hello - our washing machine has a flexible grey cord coming out of the back, which fits into a kitchen pipe, as in the photo attached. When we use the washing machine, it is suddenly happening that the water seems to go into the kitchen pipe but straight back out again.

What can we do about this?

(Our Home Emergency insurance told us that if it only happens when the washing machine is on, then it is a problem with the washing machine, even though the water is coming out of a kitchen pipe. Is that correct?)

If the water comes out of the grey stand pipe then it's a plumbing fault ie blocked, that is covered by your ins. Not a washing mc fault.
