Washing Machine smell advice

HI All,

Need some help, plumber has installed washing machine but waste pipe is stinks. Trying to get him in to have a look but he's advised to get a stand pipe and trap. I have bought this but how am I supposed to fit this as the pipe and hole he made is level with the floor.
The waste pipe is the same the sink feeds into further along.

Any help appreciated.

Hope you haven't paid him for that? Certainly isn't the work of a reputable Plumber, that is a pure Cowboy Bodgejob, simple as.
If you dont feel capable of sorting it properly, find a Plumber who can. Needs taking back to the grey pipe, couple of 45º bends using to 'dogleg' the pipe upwards, then run through at the higher level to behind the machine, then fit the standpipe.

At the moment, it could even siphon out the machine during the cycle so it either wont wash the clothes properly, or will never stop trying to fill up with water to do a wash, as it's all running straight out to the drain as fast as its taking it in.

BTW, the waste pipe from a washing machine or dishwasher should always loop up, right to the underside of the worktop (you can retain it with a clip or a piece of string) so that the water is pumped up and over before running down to the drain.

A very common problem if not, is that dirty water from the sink can run into the washing machine.

Less commonly, water will run out of the machine into a lower pipe even when it is not being pumped

old Salt's standpipe should prevent both of these, but always loop the flexible hose up behind the machine. Do that today.

When I put the 45 bends on to raise pipe, do I need something in between the other end and the P trap stand pipe or should it have enough flex angle to go straight in?

Need to put the 45's on the end of the grey pipe,then run along to the required position for the Standpipe.

Note, this needs doing in 40mm diameter pipe, looks like he's reduced to 32mm which isn't big enough to cope with the flow from a washing machine.
