So I've had a terrible smell from my washing machine and cleaned/service washed it numerous times with no luck.

The issue I've had is the WM waste water is filling the traps under the sink and obviously the smell is noticed due to the trap water giving off the odour. When I flush it through with tap water it disappears but I don't want to keep doing that.

Is there any issues with attaching the WM spigot in a tee AFTER the p trap ? So the WM water never actually passes through the traps, just directly out to drain?

Thanks

Do you notice the smell in the washing machine when you open the door? If not then you may find that when the WM is draining the force of the water is emptying the sink trap seal enough to allow drain smells back up through the waste. When you run the water in the sink it is refilling the water seal.

Fitting the spigot after the trap may allow those smells to appear in the WM. Best approach would be to fit a separate WM stand pipe IMO

Yes it tends to only smell whilst the machine is running and shortly afterwards.

No smell from inside the drum.

There is a small amount of space behind the washing machine to fit a stand pipe. I might see if that helps.

Thanks for the advice
