Washing machine waste??

I doubt it, but I certainly wouldn't. I expect it would block up with the dreaded white waxy crud very quickly. That stuff blocks 4ft sewers!

If you want to avoid the build up of white crud you could stop using washing powder. Doesn't suit everyone, eg if your clothes get very messy.

Look at http://www.ecozone.co.uk/ for Eco Balls (no it's not a Private Eye joke).

I have used then for years but then I have a 'clean' job in an office and no kids. (Have separate clothes for gardening and DIY.)

Eco balls are fantastically cheap and produce no pollution as they work by ionising the water. Yours clothes are softer and don't smell of detergent anymore.

Drawbacks are you may have to do spot stain removal for sweaty collars and you can't do some washes with detergent and some with Eco balls - has to be one or the other.
