Hello everyone,
I just wanted to get any plumbers opinions on this work that I have had done... (as a layperson, it even looks shocking to me).
I have had a downstairs bathroom fitted, with the waste pipe of the new bathroom (the grey pipe) and what looks like drilled and fitted into the main waste pipe of the upstairs toilet (forgive my lack of knowledge on any technical terms/names). Basically, I heard dripping from within the wall, so I've hacked out a hole (which looks like I've done it with a knife and fork), and sure enough there's a leak whenever the toilet is flushed. Can you please tell me if the work that's been carried out here is 1) the done thing when carrying out a job like this? And 2) Just how bad does it look? Thanks in advance.

That looks like it’s been bodged onto a cast iron soil pipe and then bodged even further with the bath waste and loads of silicone. Were you feeding and tending to the horse whilst the work was being done?

That sounds about all correct... apart from the horses.
What do you suggest as a fix?

It depends, if it’s not too far down to the drain connection, then maybe upgrade to pvc to that point and use a cast to pvc adapter, eg Fernco. If not a viable option, then maybe x2 fernco, a bossed pipe or piece of pipe and strap boss.
