Wow, that's pretty special. Not surprised it doesn't drain - water doesn't flow uphill very well! I'd take the sink fitting out and replace it with a conventional one (it this non-standard IKEA rubbish by any chance?) then hang a trap with a horn off that, with solvent welded pipework running from there to the drain
New trap and basket waste is needed.
