Waste Vent Pipe

My bathroom has a cavity which houses my vertical waste/vent pipe that goes up through the roof. I am hoping to utilise this cavity to enlarge the shower footprint and someone has suggested the vent pipe can be removed with an alternative vent solution. Can anyone advise on this arrangement?

A durgo valve might be what they are talking about. not sure about their use/limits but essentially I think they permit a soil waste to terminate indoors.
