Water based or oil based top coat to give best finish on 'upcycled' sideboard

After advice as to whether water based or oil based top coat will give best finish on a pine sideboard. Also welcome recommendations as to best product.
Already been primed with zinnser BIN

I think all furniture and other items we buy has had waterbased paints on.
I think it's the best finish especially if sprayed.
Not sure how to answer that question.
All down to the quality of paint and the application

Water easier to work with, lots of thin coats, rub down between each coat.
