I have a bath mixer tap. When I flip lever so that water flows through the main tap there is no problem. When I flip lever so water is redirected through the shower hose there is no problem with hot water but there is water hammer when use the cold. It lasts about three to four seconds then stops. Any ideas, think the tap innards need changing but why would it only happen with the shower head and not the main tap.

Possibly ,or the diverter components ,or both.
