As you may have read before I had some windows fitted 18 months ago. All sorts of minor problems, but now I have discovered water in the window / glass. It looks to be between the two pieces of glass.

I cannot see any flaws in the seal on the outside or in.

Any idea how this happens and any ways to resolve without replacing the glass.

Please don't suggest calling up the installer under his 10 year guarantee, I cannot face it, not after the last time.

Pics attached which hopefully explain a little clearer.

Its a failed double glazing unit mate and you can't fix them, only replace. Normally you see condensation on the glass rather than the water pooling though. When new ones are fitted, its best to keep them spaced up from the bottom of the frame if you can - it can help with drainage.

thanks

is it likely to get worse the more it rains or is it not actually rain water - what I am trying to say is, at the mo I can live with it, but if its likely to get much worse may as well just change now.

It certainly won't get any better, but I'm still a bit curious why the glass doesn't seem to be fogged up....when these units are made, the air between them has to be perfectly clean and dry, and often there are silica gel crystals in the aluminium rails between the panes to help keep things that way. It has to be rain water that you see.

I had similar problems with a few windows after they were fitted and found out that the drain holes hadn't been drilled into the pVC frame before the glass unit was fitted. Got the guy round, he took the glass out and re-drilled some drain holes - hey presto, problem solved.

The sealed unit needs to be replaced under guarantee. Its not that expensive for the installer to do.
