Folks

Just wondering, if a house has the standard plumbing hot water cylinder and I wanted to upgrade to a pressurised water system could it be possible and would it be costly?

Also what the best oil boiler for a 3000 sq ft house, it currently has an old boiler with the glass on front type??

Any advice will be appreciated

To convert from gravity fed to mains cold water you most likely would need to change your cylinder. A mega flow would probably be the one to go for in a house. However, the size cylinder you’d need is undetermined without being there to see. Same goes with boiler choice. The size of the boiler is determined by how many radiators and how much pipework you have, then you can determine which boiler would be best. Best thing you can do is get a few quotes.

As far as the heating goes it’s I mpossible to say without seeing unfortunately because it could entail far more than you realise. But if you meen 5k to pressurise just your hotwater, that’s probably far to much.

Ask yourself, there maybe a viable reason as to why you don’t have mainsfed hot water already

You can only use a pressurised cylinder (ie unvented) if your mains water pressure is sufficient. Ask your plumber to test your water pressure & flow rates. If its not ok there's still some things you can do but it's costly. Saying that, buying and installing an unvented cylinder is also costly.

Why do you want to "upgrade" to a pressurised cylinder ?
