Hi. We have a BWT water softener - very unhappy with it as the low salt indicator has never worked as we were told it would. Do we really need one or are the electrical systems just as good? Thanks in advance.

What do you mean electrical systems?

the ones with an electrically-driven timeclock and/or motorised metering system that turns the regeneration process on?

they work fine.

But if he means the ones that claim you can reduce the hardness of water by passing magnetism through it, like Water King,

they work the same way as homeopathy does.

Yes - sorry

Does Water King work? Is it a viable substitute?

There's also a product called Aquabion.
It stops limescale sticking to things as it changes the charge of the atoms.

Fitted quite a few and had good feedback.

@Bazzeruk If your softener is not working as intended have you taken it up with the manufacturer? Obviously the device would have to have been purchased from new or pre owned but still within the manufacturers warranty period.
