Hi, our water started tasting very salty (but we also have separate drining tap), so we did a test and the water is showing as being hard. The salt is going down in the unit. Any idea what could be happening in this situation, I was confused with the water being salty but still testing hard. We fitted a replacement softner about 6 months ago, now wondering if its faulty.
Thanks

Could be that the resins are either compacted or worn out. Is there any difference between the incoming water and post softener hardness?

Yes, just did a test on the water. Hard on drinking tap and soft on softened tap. So water is defo soft. Just a really noticeable change to the softened water tasting salty.

Then I suspect there is an issue with the rinse phase as the brine should get rinsed out. Time for a service call I would think.
