hi chaps,

I'm thinking of installing a water softner due to hard water in my area and have kids that suffer from eczema (heard it helps but not yet convinced...)

Stuck a new ultracom 24cxi on the wall last year so should also offer some protection to that too.

Any recommendations as to a reasonably priced decent unit ?

Thanks
John.

I would respectfully suggest that you contact Glowworm to get in writing that softened water water passing through that appliance will not invalidate their warranty.

WB for instance do not approve.

Alpha are OK with water softeners

Worcester boilers have aluminium heat exchangers, soft water is corrosive to aluminium this is why they dont recomend it for filling the HEATING system,

However a softener used on the hot water side is recomended on all combis. The soft water will not be in contact with the main (primary) heat exchanger.

Choose a softener with a high flow rate

We use Tapworks on our installs, have only had a duff mains transformer so far. And that one was 4 yrs old when it failed.
