We used to work at a place were the potable water was supplied by a spring , into a catchment tank & than pumped up to the house via a ram pump that was installed in 1912 , still there i think , & he had to have his water tested every so often , he also had to have ultra violet , device that the water passed through before it was drunk ect , I was there ounce when some bloke was doing some tests he lifted up the catchment tank lid looked inside saw some particular breed of snail swimming or floating around ?? said thats ok they only live in pure water , so a maybe a knowledge of snails is an advantage ??
when i took my water treatment, we covered L8 i must of fallen asleep when the snails bit was being taught dam!
