The hot water valve is letting by. I am considering buying a new valve, but would prefer to convert it to cold-fill only. Can I just take the electrical connector for the hot valve and put it on the cold one? Will it be a simple spade connector?

Unfortunately, for all but the cool washes, it tries to fill up with hot water. So since I have turned off the hot service valve under the sink, it won't fill except on cool.

I have not yet tried to open it up. I imagine I can get at the valves by taling the top off, is that right?.

I would have thought you could do exactly what you are suggesting, simple enough just to try it anyway. You may have to piggyback the wires just in case some programmes need the cold fill.
