Wax from Lava Lamp on Wood Floor

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get Red (of course it had to be red) Lava Lamp Wax off of a wooden floor or my painted wall. Yep it exploded, looks like we killed someone in the corner of our room.
Any help welcome.

if it is wax then a low heated iron and brown paper to soak it up while applying the heat
