My understairs cupboard has been converted in to a WC by the previous occupiers, at present there is just a toilet in there, an orange one at that!

I am going to replace this and fit a small hand basin at the same time - I don't like the idea of a loo with no hand basin.

My question is this...at present there is a simple bulb holder above the door and a normal light switch on the inside.

When I fit the hand basin will I have to replace the light for a bathrom rated one and the switch for a pull cord? Is a waterproof switch available?

The light will be about 1m away from the hand basin, as will the switch.

A WC is not classed as a special location as it does not contain a bath or shower.

How close to the wash hand basin will the switch be?

 Missed that bit.

No need to move the light / switch unless you want to
