Hello all, i purchased a normal 4 bed house which was half completed by the plumber.
ANyway there is a new megaflo in a room which looks was going to be plumbed in.
However the megaflo is one not in my house its a "XL 400" its obviously for house
who need more requirements from a megaflo but instead of replacing it with a
normal one like i have at home "250" can i just keep this one? As i read this is for
more commercial instalations not residential houses???

I have a WorchesterBosh system boiler.

All new rads yet to be installed but plumbing of old central heating is in place.

thanks

Nothing wrong with having a larger than usual hot water cylinder, perhaps the plumber was anticipating lots of baths, or got it cheap.

The expansion vessel will have to be sized accordingly and the installation must be done by a plumber qualified to work on unvented hot water.

to be honest it seems overkill to me not sure why. Is this different to plumb than a normal megaflo (i.e non XL)?

So you have a Boster Whoosh boiler. The XL400 is probably a bit on the large side, I've got a 300 at home and my daughter can drain it single handed though.

The Megaflo 400 is an expensive piece of kit and well insulated so there's no big drama in using it, but I would be mindful where it is sat as you are looking at a dead weight of around 500Kg.
