weird pink stuff in trench

hi all, been digging a trench for some conservatory foundations and came across some old hardcore(?) concrete(?) near the surface in one area. i thought at first that this stuff was chalk and started smashing bits off it with a lump hammer. it soon started to break up and i was finding bits of bricks, broken pan tiles, sawn animal bones and then i came across this pink stuff. i thought at first it was a completely soaked rotted brick until i found a lump about 4 times the size of a brick. its is pink in colour, damp to touch though crumbles like dust. is it old plaster or something? im sure some of you are familiar with this pink stuff but ive no idea whats been buried here in the past.

cheers

last pic is a lump of it that ive dug out : /
