Hi

Thinking about turning front room into an extra bathroom with wet room.
Room area is approx 5m x 4m with the shower to one side of room but not in corner.
How far would tanking/waterproofing need to be done away from tray(shower board thing) area??

Of 2 companies so far to visit and quote , first 1 says tank whole area, 2nd guy says 1.5m -2m away from tray area.
As the window area is almost 5m away from shower area does it really needed waterproofed that far?
Who is right??
Must say 1st guy seemed more believable.

Thanks for any advice.
PS Its on the 1st floor if that makes a difference

hi if you are laying a preformed shower board , the water fall will be aimed at shower drain
no need to tank whole room
2-3 meters will be more than enough , that is to allow for water spray
provided you have the drain set properly

If you mean tanking the floor then it's probably easier and better to cover the whole floor in ditra/durabase rather than just a bit of it..
