I would like to replace the existing vinyl floor in the wetroom with either a rubber tile or ceramic tile floor. I would need to remove the existing flooring as it is not entirely glued in some parts and to minimise floor thickness. After removing the vinyl, would I need to tank the floor again?

ok
the vinly will probally be Altro saftey flooring(wetroom)

this will be ontop off...

subfloor(floorboards/chipboard/etc..)

then this will be overboard with 6mm wbp ply..or thinner..
..and then..

screeded with a latex self levelling compoud...then
the Altro...

so all you need to do is go to the door threshold and lift the safety flooring, then prize up the wbp overboard, and it "should" come up in the pieces of the overboared wbp ply...

as for re-tiling once you have lifted the overboarded floo,r come back on and tell us what the subfloor is constructed off. ;)
