Hi

I'm getting 11t of type 1 delivered loose into the front garden. This will be somehow moved to the back garden to lay as a base for artificial grass. I remember they digger driver who whacked a base in our front garden saying that if it rained too much it would ruin the whacking process. Should I try to keep the loose pile of type 1 dry also or is it just the whacking shouldn't be done in heavy rain?

Yes, keep it dryish if possible but really the worst thing you can do is spread it and then allow heavy rain on it before it gets wacked. it will turn into a soup and not compact.

If you can get it down and wack it straight away rain won't matter after its compacted.

Also obvoiusly dont put it down into standing water
