I’ve uncovered an old natural stone wall in my lounge that will be make a nice focal point. Problem is a visible re-enforced concrete collar on top of the wall that was laid before a 1st floor extension was added. 6” of this collar is visible beneath the ceiling along the length of the wall and needs to be disguised. I can cut some stone slips to match the original BUT what do I use to stick them to the side of the concrete collar which has an irregular surface now I have cut and ground it back 2” to accommodate the slips? I was thinking of an instant grab adhesive (no-nails?) then mortar pointing with the rest of the wall. Anything better than the gun on adhesive? Slips will be roughly 6” roundish and up to 2” thick to keep the same lines as the original wall. Thanks….

Ok thanks for the replies, I think Thermo’s confirmation swings me to gripfill. I can see that tile adhesive would normally work but I was doubtful they would be able to hold the unconventional stone slips until set.

If you want a really, really good adhesive check out the Sika website: www.sika.co.uk go to construction product selectors > construction general product selector and review what's available - sikadur 33 looks a good candidate - sticks like the proverbial to a blanket!
