Hi forum,
I was wondering if anyone could give me an outline or a link to the regulations for putting in a multifuel stove with regards to the chimney.
I have recently removed a small coal fire from my kitchen and opened the chimney breast up so I can put a stove in. I just thought I'd be able to stick the top pipe of the stove up the chimney a couple of feet but someone has told me that the pipe has to go all the way to the top and then have some sort of termination device or something. What's all that about? Surely if it was safe enough for a coal fire it's safe enough for a stove?
Also, the wall the chimney is on forms part of a shed/garage on the outside, I was wanting to put a smaller stove in there to heat it in the winter as it's a workshop. I thought I'd just be able to bore a nice round hole through the wall into the chimney and share it with the kitchen stove but the same person told me I couldn't do that either. Seems bonkers to me, can anyone give me the real story?
Thanks.
Jay
