Stove / chimney problem.

I know dozens of people that have stoves without liners. None of them have died yet.[/quote]

They won't. Just the same as with oil boilers. The reason being
that coal and wood burn dirty. Smoke etc. If it is getting into
the room you know about it. Result no one dies.

Wrong. People DO die. The one that comes readily to mind isthe old chap years ago, when some kids covered his chimney with a bucket. For a laugh.

I couldn't quickly find a link for that, but here is one. Be careful about making assumptions and claims":

Have you checked the condition of the baffle - thats the heavy plate suspended in the top of the stove that deflects the hot gases around the stove before they go up the lum?
There should be clearance at the sides and front.
Edit: Is that really an 18kW stove?
John :)

Hi John, I haven't checked it myself but the chimney sweep did.

And yes it's an 18kw - you need to scroll down the page to see it, it's not the one at the top which looks like a 5kw.

This is it:

Sure looks great. Shame its not putting out the heat.
I've seen little tiny stoves half the size of that one in big rooms with the doors left open to try and cool the place. And you wouldn't see the fuel they use.

I agree - a smashing bit of kit. Does yours have a back boiler fitted?
Anyway - if you open the doors and smoke billows out, then there are chimney problems.....blockage, down draught etc.

Hi yes it has a back boiler.

Can this be plumbed into a central heating system that is pressurised?

And there is no smoke coming out now, but hardly any draw.

Hey daydream , unless you know how to size a chimney then give it up and get someone who knows what they are doing , and yes it's a specialist trade and not for someone who aint got a fookin clue.

I think the only people getting upset about this are those that usually charge people over the odds for doing this kind of work - and it's hardly "specialist" is it? I mean we're not talking about the depth of knowledge an electronics engineers would need, or a mechanic.

This is the plumbing equivalent of me asking what size copper pipe I need to run to my bath.
