Hi,

Can anyone estimate a price for the following:

To:
Extend gas supply to opening and check soundness.
Remove existing chimney pot, liner and terminal, and sweep flue.
Supply and fit new chimney pot, gas liner, terminal and accessories.
Install stove (stove already purchased) and commission onto a prepared hearth and opening.
Provide Gas Register certificate.

As just received a quote and think it's above the norm, if anyone has an opinion please reply.

By stove you mean fire that looks like a wood burner thingy???

How far a gas run.

How high is your house is it standard height is the chimney stack top accesible from roof or will it need some form of scaffolding to reach it.

Have they quoted for scaffolding just to get onto roof or will they use ladders

A look-alike wood burner thingy, Parkray consort 4.
(already purchased)

The gas run..... less than 0.5m extention (gas already there from old gas fire/boiler)

The flu length would be 6m 5 inch std gas flu,

access via a ladder from the roof.... no scaffold mentioned

Materials no more than £200
two men for a bit of the job some will do by themselves
And a days labour ( max) which can vary from say £200 to £300
SO working off ladders reasonable price would be £500. Above £600 i would say is dear but depends on whether they use 2 men and for how long.

What where you quoted

Only thing not allowing for is sweeping chimney but to be honest no need for it as any carp will come out with the old liner being removed and new one put down , plus chimney is then lined so nothing will come into appliance

Received a quote for all the above including chimney sweep, he seems to me a one man band, so would be surprised if he employes anyone else to carry out the work.

£875

small print states: I reserve the right to make any additional charges as may be necessary.

Get another quote .Iwould not pay that far too dear.. And should not be charging anything extra
