What are these pipes?

Clipped to the top of one of the joists in my loft are two grey plastic pipes, probably about 1.5cm in diameter. They aren't connected internally to anything at all. They run for a meter or so, and then dissapear outside via the eves where they are terminated with t-peices like these:

I have absolutely no idea what they are there for, I'm guessing they may be overflow pipes left over from an old heating system or something?
 
This should be in plumbing section. Don't know what they are but you'll be able to insulate over pipes without any ill effects (apart from not being able to find them again)
 
Yes, they're overflow pipes. If they aren't connected to any tanks anymore just rip them out.
