Found behind our garage and interested to know what they are. Can anyone help? Thanks!

The other thing looks like a terracotta plinth, possibly had a plant pot or small garden sculpture on it? Guess.

Thanks both - there are loads of the terracotta plinths but no matching pots.

I bet the "plinths" would fetch a bit in a garden antiques sale. Are the tops hollow or flat? How many do you have? Age of the main house?

I wonder if they might have been part of a balustrade. What are the dimensions?

Hi John, yes I reckon that's it! Something like this?

They are about 15 in tall and totally solid with evidence of mortar on the ends. House is 1914 and previous owners were in their 80s and lived here all their married life.

There's about 10 I reckon.

I had no idea but when John said balustrade I Googled and it definitely looks right.

Is it worth selling them? How much might they fetch?

Sothebys have occasional Garden Architecture sales in Billingshurst, West Sussex. You might be able to look up previous catalogues or results. Or you may be able to email photos for an opinion, if they think they can make money out of a sale they will encourage you.

Generally, dealers buy cheap and sell dear.

Edit: Now rebranded as Summers Place Auctions
