is it a loop/rcd tester, insulation res tester, a multimeter, voltage indicator and a prooving unit?

thanks

Loose the multimeter - They hate them.

Add to your list Continuity meter, although this is part of the Insulation tester.

You do not actually need a proving unit - You can prove the voltage indictor works on a known live source.

They will expect you to have the correct equipment for the work that you are doing.

I am not a NICEIC member but (I believe) they expect you to have a calibrated sound level tester if you are installing smoke alarms.
This is to ensure that the sound level from the alarm meets the spec eg from a bedroom.

Nope, a lot of the ones on the market are not GS38, fluke is one of the biggest offenders.

I would think you would need your voltage indicators to be GS38 compliant.

(I'm not ignoring you by the way Spark123, just having messenger issues )

The Metrel prods aren't cos they are about 6mm of conducting prod. They supply a nodder that goes on the end that only allows 2mm to show through. Never used them though

We ended up with Steinel combichecks as they are GS38 compliant, don't feel as nice as the old fluke voltage testers :( (I'm not with NICEIC or any of the others btw)
Also have had the Steinel combickecks not register voltage when the battery is flat but I found that out by proof testing before using them to check dead :D

I use a Martindale voltage tester, it's also GS38 compliant and doesn't rely and batteries.
