What's 'old fashioned' about a bathroom with a pull switch?

Still much the same as when I was a kid in the 1940's. Still make more noise in the middle of the night than a flushing bog. Talking of bogs, they are now quieter than the old chain-operated thrones.

Lights with two switches should be wired so that the light is off when both switches are off (and therefore also off when both switches are on).

Not if you want to annoy Mrs Sheds....

Presumably Mrs Sheds would like both switches to be 'on' for the light to be on; one or both switches 'off' would result in the light being off.

This can be achieved by a trivial rearrangement of the wires in the two switches.

If Mrs Sheds' system of being on when both switches are 'on' (down), then likewise they would be on when both switches are 'off' (up)
