What fitting from plastic pipe needed pls

This (from screwfix) isolating elbow seems ideal for me. But other side from the 15mm compression is this 1/2” fitting.

I want to come off a cistern inlet to it if someone could advise. A flexi might be helpful coming off the cistern inlet (maybe not essential) however plastic pipe going to this fitting probably would be good.

That's not an isolating elbow, rather it's a bent tap connector ISO, there is a subtle difference as you have found. It';s for a drect connection to a tap/fill valve inlet

I'd say you probably want one of these -

You'll get them in toolstation. You'll find it easier to fit to.
