1/2", 15mm etc. etc. - what do they all refer to? I have a new toilet cistern, with male plastic threaded fill inlet. The nut from a 15mm compression fitting screws on neatly. But it's obviously not a 15mm compression fitting, as standard 15mm pipe is too big to fit the inlet. Is it 1/2" female to 15mm compression converter fitting I need? What does the 1/2" refer to?

1/2"" bsp it's the thread size 15mm is the outside of the copper pipe size

it's a 1/2"" tap connector you need

Cheers Kev - recognise that from Screwfix pages! Still not grasped the 1/2" thread size - is that the length of the thread? Seems a weird thing to specify as a measurement!
