what grade lining paper should I use,for cross lining on lath and plaster dry lining ,its in good condition but I just want to firm it up a bit.

I'm probably being ignorant here but i know what dry lining is and i know what lathe and plaster is but the two together i can't picture? have you boarded over the lathe and plaster?

I normally go 1200 on re-decs with walls that are shall we say weathered.

1000 grade or 800 if your walls are flat, 800 if your going to paper

Bare plaster or plasterboard really benefits from a coat of gardz because it seals the porous surface and future proofs you from damaging the surface if you ever pull the paper off, also gives a nice bit of slip whilst hanging. Personally i line vertically if painting but it usually starts an argument if we go down that road, so do what your most comfortable with!

Yes it is a bit unusual ,Victorian dry lining the house wall's are stone with this dry lining on the inside the whole house is done this fasion, most of it is in good condition so I just repair it in a trad style ,I'm a chippie Ive seen people get a flap on with old plaster and end up gutting a whole house,I prefer to just roll with it and avoid the rush (so to speek)What is gradz?

Ah ok, thanks for filling me in. Gardz is a clear sealer from zinsser, it'll mean you can remove your paper without damaging the board
