Chicken, mushroom and pea risotto tonight.

We opened a tin of peas yesterday, same brand as we usually buy, and they were like bullets, and no colour in the water. Tinned food is usually pre-cooked, only needing to be warmed up. These had obviously missed out the cooking stage, on the production line. She taking them back, along with some others, bought at the same time, with the same batch number - they all sound the same, when shaken.

Frozen peas are good, not had a bad batch yet. Petit Pois are my go to. I think they are 99p or thereabouts in Aldi.

I like the B

I like the Bigga type peas, Avril hates peas, will not touch 'em.

My concern was, if they are uncooked, then they are not sterile in the tin.

Ah I see, I thought you meant just bog standard garden or green peas. If they hadn't been through the freezing or heating process you were right to give them a wide berth.

Returned to Lidl, this am, and they are getting in touch with the supplier about a recall.

Yesterday, decided on a quick pub Sunday lunch. Nowt special, just handy, and local. I'd been in before, when they were serving the Sunday lunches. They called it a carvery back then. but it was nowt of the sort - it was cut portions of meat, with veg popped on, and served at your table. So wasn't really expecting much, especially at the price - £11 including a pint. The turkey was that thin sliced, compressed stuff, the beef was actually roast beef. To my surprise, it tasted not bad at all, I usually avoid that sort of thing.

That’s more expensive than London…..

I briefly considered going to spoons, but I have always eaten slowly, so like my food served hot. Best I've ever had in spoons, is lukewarm.

I've never eaten in a spoons - I just don't feel confident with a 16 year old manning the microwave.

Here, for our local one, they had a sort of referendum, whether we wanted one in the high street. I voted yes, as it would offer more local choice. It's always busy in there, and I might pop in every few months, and have a breakfast. I wouldn't call them cheap, there are cheaper, better locally, but what annoys me is they Like my food presented hot - they habitually serve it tepid.

Lamb shank, in gravy, boil in the bag. Two in the box, from Lidl, we shared the first one, some weeks ago, and we enjoyed it. Today with mash, and green beans.
