Privet although much maligned,is quick growing, needs cutting regularly, but still makes a good hedge in my opinion, and it is very adaptable, can be shaped, cut back hard if necessary. It make a neat hedge.
I have noticed that Photinia Red Robin is now being sold as a hedging plant. I think it would be an excellent decorative hedge.
