What is lockshield? Thermostatic valves

I've had a look at thermostatic valves and I've noticed some are advertised as having a 'lockshield' option.

I was wondering what this is, if I need it, and if it's worth the additional cost?

If you're only replacing the TRV then the lockshield is not required , if replacing both valves then your choice.

The lockshield is the valve at the opposite end of the radiator to the TRV
