Hello

I am from Mauritius and we follow the UK code:
Yes, for electrical installations, Mauritius follows regulations that are based on the UK electrical code (BS 7671).
The relevant Mauritian standard is MS 63, which is the local adoption of the British Standard BS 7671 "Requirements for Electrical Installations, IET Wiring Regulations".

I have this connection box near the ceiling inside every room. It has lights and sockets wires connected to it via PVC trunking. It has three connectors, which i assume are individually for neutral, live and ground. I want to know the best wire placement inside the connection box. I am thinking to have the ground in the middle connector. If i were to have neutral next to live, it is less safe, no? Whereas if the ground is in between the neutral and live, then a short would be not as serious or not damaging to equipments?

I would wire it as you propose but am not sure whether it makes any significant difference.

Probably just copying the cable -
