I managed to get the valve lever off but it took a chock of wood and an adjustable and the result was a broken peg that was tight into the lever.

Had to drill and use a wood screw to tight into the handle and force the peg out.

Now need to source a new valve. x3 local plumbers merchants don't stock them.

Replace the tap. Only about £30 at screwfix.

Replace the tap.

Both pipes are solder jointed even on to the tap body so I'm reluctant to rework them. Had they be compression fittings, I'd fit a new tap.

The two pipe runs to the tap are too close together to use a pipe cutter.

Cut with a junior hacksaw, clean up the ends and fit compression - If you really cannot get a pipe cutter in.

I would advise using a 15mm pipe slice.

Took a punt on the 40mm cartridge from Screwfix and its perfect for the job.

Used silicon grease on all contact points, seals and threads so if it ever has to be taken out and serviced, I won't have the same bother.
